AUX to play MP3 from external devices

Hello, (sorry for English)

I want save my original radio in the car and search way to get AUX for external signal.
My radio is Philips 22dc594/35x and have CD Changer Philips DC022.

There are several ways:
1. FM Transmitter (loud noise, no good) click
2. MP3 cassette click
3. XCarLink (not supported with XM) click
4. Dension ice Link ONE (high price) click
5. AUX on mainboard click
6. AUX on CD Changer cable (must have CD Changer)

Maybe I stop on number 6. It's easy and cheap.

That's idea:
Radio and CD Changer speak their language (protocol).

This is DIN connector:

As you see, he has L/R audio signal, but open only when communicate with CD changer.
I think if you make a bridge between radio and CD changer I lie it. But to work can write "silent CD" and turn on to REPEAT mode.

What do you think? :)

Re: AUX to play MP3 from external devices

I think option 5 would be the best for me, or option 6 indeed.

Do you have a better picture on where to solder the wires on the mainboard?
I've been trying to figure this out but have not been succesful until now.
Do you use the cassetteplayer in this option? How do you activate the aux circuit?

Re: AUX to play MP3 from external devices

You could contact the XCarLink manufacturer with the plug specificition posted above and ask if they can think of a solution. If you play it well you could become their tester and maybe get the first one free! 8)

En een handtekening!!!!

XCarLink is not supported.

I like manufacturer look

For option 5, you will lose cassette player.
You can search L/R signal from cassette player.

That's all I have

Re: AUX to play MP3 from external devices

I will try for sure. The trouble is that these radios do not all have the same, identical pcb. There is no indication on the pcb what is what and the pictures might not be good enough. Other thing is I only have 1 working radio which is in the Xm. I don't want to fry this one! The other I have has a broken pcb so is of no use for testing this. So if somebody can donate a radio that for instance has a broken display but otherwise is working that would be very useful!

Re: AUX to play MP3 from external devices

1 issue I encountered when trying to tap into the cassette circuit was that the input signal of the mp3 player was way too high. This results in a heavily distorted sound and the possibilty of blowing up some components.

I think to expand idea 6 with this

If you have experience can try create CD changer emulator:
